Welcome to the Rad Bod Ride
Riding bikes with friends
What’s the Rad Bod Ride?
Rad Bod Ride is fun on bikes with friends. It’s a weekly gravel ride based out of Putney, Vermont. We ride, we laugh, we snack (and sometimes swim).
We’ve been doing this for years and the routes are interesting, challenging, and gorgeous. You’ll ride some classic gravel, hidden gems, and the occasional chunky Class IV connector.
For the summer of 2026 we are riding on Tuesday nights and departing at 5:30pm from various locations (join our Strava club for each week’s ride and route info).
Frequently Asked Questions
-
RBR is fun for new cyclists and seasoned riders. A good gut check: if you can ride 15 miles on dirt roads in under 2 hours without it being a crisis, you're ready. If you're not quite there yet, go get some miles in and come back, we'll still be here.
-
A gravel bike is ideal but not required. You can do it on a mountain bike, but you will work much harder. Same goes for a hybrid bike. What you don't want is a road bike with skinny tires as we will do some sections of rocky class IV road that will humble it quickly.
-
We try to keep the pace to where the ride feels like a legit workout for the least fit person on it. If that’s not you, enjoy some zone 2.
If you are super fit and a seasoned rider, please join us, but this should not be your biggest effort of the week. Go tire yourself out on a long solo effort over the weekend and then enjoy a relaxed ride with friends on Tuesday.

We ride 15-20 miles and it usually takes about 90 minutes or so. That said, when the ride ends, the hang doesn’t have to. Most weeks there’s a good spot to hang, whether that’s a swimming hole or just a couple tailgates. Occasionally there are tacos.

No. We regroup, we wait, nobody gets left behind. The moments of pause as we regroup are perfect for BS’ing with your fellow riders. If you're out front, you're responsible for keeping the group together, not pushing the pace.

Try and be self sufficient, but know you’ve got a community of support. Having a basic repair kit and knowing how to use it is ideal, but if you don’t, bring some bonus snacks for whoever jumps in to help you out.
Some rides have swimming holes at the end and that will be posted in the ride info. Bring a suit and towel.
We will also have post-ride food which we can coordinate amongst those that RSVP. -
You can Rad Bod in just about anything, but not nothing! Some folks will wear a real cycling kit and others ride in jean shorts! It’s a judgement free zone!
-
We leave from different locations depending on the week to keep the routes interesting. The meeting spot and route are posted to our Strava club a few days in advance. Join the club and RSVP to the rides!
Group Ride Basics and Etiquette
The most important habit is passing information through the group. If you hear a call or see a signal, repeat it so it reaches everyone, front to back and back to front.
The two calls you'll hear most:
"Car back" — vehicle approaching from behind. Pass the message forward.
"Car up" — vehicle coming toward us. Pass the message back.
Pointing down at the road warns of a pothole or hazard. Pass that signal back.
Don't overlap wheels with the rider in front of you. If they move to the side and your front wheel gets clipped, you’ll go down fast.
When a car needs to pass, single up without being asked. Be a courteous cyclist.
We regroup at natural stopping points and wait if someone has a mechanical issue. If we’re stopped for a moment, grab a drink and talk to someone you haven't met yet.
RBR is welcoming to riders of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels. Racism, misogyny, homophobia, and bigotry of any kind, including jokes, have no place here. Anyone making other riders feel unwelcome or unsafe will be asked to leave and won't be welcome back.
